F1 Season Recap

What a spectacular Formula 1 season we experienced this year!

Right from the start Mercedes was the dominant team. From the first green flag in Melbourne to the last checkered flag in Ahu Dhabi, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton were the men to beat. Without a doubt, they proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Lewis Hamilton clinched the Championship with 8 races to go. Nico Rosberg and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel were in close contention for second place in the drivers Championship until Rosberg went on his 3 in a row win streak winning in Mexico, Brazil, and Ahu Dhabi. That was the German’s first ever 3 in a row win streak – a hat trick. Mercedes also won the Constructors Championship and is expected to take in approximately a $150 million prize money from the FIA.

The Scuderia Ferrari team were the only ones who could really threaten the Silver Arrows. Drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen took it to the Mercedes trying to break their streak of wins whenever the opportunity presented itself. Vettel ended up placing 3nd in the drivers standings with Raikkonen in 4th. Ferrari came in 2nd in the Constructors Championship behind the dominant Mercedes.Ferrari

Another F1 team worth mentioning is the Williams. Drivers Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas both had a respectable year with Bottas finishing 5th in the drivers Championship and Massa following behind in 6th place. However, Williams went 3rd in the Constructors Championship right behind the Ferrari. I believe Williams, along with the Ferrari’s, will be a more powerful force in 2016 .

And lastly, the once unstoppable powerhouse Red Bull’s. Drivers Daniel Riccardo and Daniil Kvyat had a successful year considering the drama they had with their Renault engines earlier in the year. In the drivers Championship, Kvyat went 7th and Riccardo tailed close behind in 8th place. The Red Bull’s managed to grab 4th in the Constructors Championship. In 2016 the Red Bull will be a team to watch closely as they try to make their engine and aerodynamic advancements take hold going into the new season.
